Heman Chong 张奕满
Heman Chong 张奕满 (b. 1977 Muar, Malaysia and raised in Singapore) received his MA in Communication Art and Design from the Royal College of Art, London, UK in 2002 and a Diploma in Visual Communication from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore in 1997. His art practice involves an investigation into the philosophies, reasons and methods of individuals and communities imagining the future. Charged with a conceptual drive, this research is then adapted into objects, images, installations, situations or texts.

He has developed solo exhibitions at Third Floor-Hermès (Singapore, 2008), Vitamin Creative Space (Guangzhou, 2007), Art In General (New York, 2007), Project Arts Centre (Dublin, 2006), Ellen de Bruijne Projects (Amsterdam, 2005), The Substation (Singapore, 2004), Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin, 2003) and Sparwasser HQ (Berlin, 2003). His work has also been shown extensively in group exhibitions including The Kroeller-Muller Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto (MART), Hamburger Bahnhof, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Daejeon Museum of Art, Singapore Art Museum, Kadist Foundation, Overgaden and The Center of Contemporary Art Lagos. He has participated in Singapore Biennale (2008), SCAPE Christchurch Biennale (2006), Busan Biennale (2004) and the 10th India Triennale (2000).

Heman Chong is represented by Vitamin Creative Space. He represented Singapore at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003. He lives and works in Singapore and Berlin.
