Xu Tan 徐坦 (b. 1957 Wuhan, Hubei Province, China) received a BA from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in1983 and an MA from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1989. Xu Tan has received several fellowships, including the Fellowship of Asia Culture Council (Rockefeller Foundation), New York in 2002 and the Fellowship of DAAD, Berlin, Germany in 2004. Selected solo exhibitions include DAAD Berlin Gallery, Vitamin Art Center, and Vermont Art Center. Selected group exhibitions include P.S. 1, 2nd Guangzhou Contemporary Art Triennial, 50th Venice Biennial, Berlin Biennial, and Taipei Biennial. He is represented by Vitamin Creative Space. Tan Xu lives and works in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
