Sanggil Kim (b. 1974 Seoul) graduated from Daegu Arts University in 1998 with a BFA, and from Joong-Ang University in 2000 with an MFA in Photography. Kim presents images that are simultaneously calm and confident, yet sharply disturbing. These images reveal private internet communities who gather to flaunt their Harley Davidsons, Burberry dresses, and mobile homes. Kim's works have shown in group exhibitions throughout the world, including the 2002 Gwangju Biennale Project in Korea; the Photographie Contemporaine Coreene at La Galerie Photo de Montpellier and the 2001 Grand Exposition de LiAnnee/Situation Acutelleen Asie - Passage de Retz in France; and the 2005 Fast Forward Fotografie Forum International in Frankfurt.
