Jiang Zhi 蒋志 (b. 1971 Hunan Province) graduated from the China Academy of Art in Hangzhou in 1995. He is one of the leading young new media artists in China, receiving the China Contemporary Art Award in 2000. His video documentary Empty Cage was awarded the Asian New Force Critics Award at the Hong Kong International Film and Video Festival in 2001. He has exhibited in numerous international biennales such as Gwangju (2002), Venice (2003) and Shanghai (2004), as well as the Guangzhou Triennial (2005). Jiang Zhi lives and works in Shenzhen.
